Custom Saltwater Fly Rods by Kane Klassics

Superb accuracy and castability are attained from the application of taper designs from Kane Klassics bamboo fly rods. These tapers combined with composite multi-modulus graphite allow stream side performance delicate in the short casting ranges yet with extraordinary backbone to reach out to incredible distances. These 3 piece rods offer outstanding value through their attention to detail. The same hand-crafted skills, which grace all Kane Klassics bamboo rods, are standard on our graphite rods.

GRAPHITE 9' 3 PC. SALTWATER FLY RODS

MATERIALS

The graphite in our fly rods consists of a proprietary mix of medium and high modulus graphite. In high stress areas such as ferrules, high modulus graphite allows strong, lightweight and slender ferrules. In other areas of the rod, lower modulus graphite combines to smooth out the action and stiffness giving our Kane Klassics graphite rods a smooth responsive fast action even in the three piece saltwater fly rods!

FINISH

The elegant flat sea teal blank color is beautiful and yet functional. Scrapes are easily finger polished back to a matching sheen, as opposed to scrapes in a shiny glossed rod. The rods reflect less shine in casting and this helps the stealth approach in bright casting conditions.

GUIDES & SILK

As in our bamboo rods, all graphite rod guides are attached with pure silk thread. The beautifirl pure teal color surrounds the guide, and appears to float the guide's paws off the rod, just as elegantly as our bamboo rods. The single foot guides have a blued-black non reflective coating which wears to a patina as you use your rod. The stripping guides are the finest in long performance material, enhancing castablity for the life of the rod.

CORK & REEL SEAT

All our 9' 3 piece saltwater fly rods in line weights 10 and 12 are fitted with a full wells grip. At the fore finger or thumb area of the cork, a section of burl cork, a Kane Klassics signature, is designed in. This burl cork is nicely colored and functionally more dense, providing a casting point which will remain functional for the life of the rod. The reel seat is up-locking aluminum blued gun metal with the same finish as a fine sporting weapon. The reel seat wood is elegant American black walnut burl.

The 9' 8 weight line rod uses a modified cigar cork grip still with the unique burl cork at fore finger position and a wonderful wood real seat of black walnut.

ROD ALIGNMENT MARKINGS

All Kane Klassics rods have assembly markings at all ferrules. From the two piece rods to the multi section rods, all have these simple but important alignment aids. They allow quick rod assembly.

KANE KLASSICS HOOK KEEPER

As with our bamboo rods, our graphite rod hook keeper is mounted one inch forward of the cork check, cosmetically pleasing and totally functional. Mounting the hook keeper away from the cork protects your finger from hook puncture while carrying the rod, another Kane Klassics signature feature.

LOGO

Your rod is traditionally labeled using a rolled stamp Kane Klassics Logo into the butt cap of your rod. The rod's size, date of manufacture and serial number are hand labeled on every Kane Klassics rod with pride.

ROD CASE

Every Kane Klassics rod comes with an aluminum rod case, with a functional and unique cap containing a breather hole. A burgundy rod cloth bag protects the rod in the case.

BAMBOO SALTWATER FLY RODS

Our bamboo saltwater fly rods are designed for maximum performance in the extremes of ocean and intercoastal fly fishing conditions.

The taper designs are tailored for fast action and all rods are built hollow for the lightest possible bamboo rod in their size range. Ferrules and reelseat hardware are all saltwater-proof materials, assuring years of corrosion free usage.

Bamboo saltwater fly rods are two or three piece and all details are custom finished to the individual's own requirements.

ROD CONSTRUCTION

The cane that is used for each Kane Klassic rod has been seasoned for forty years. This select stock is hand split, carefully sectioning out each strip in preparation for hand planing the delicate tapers. The traditional and accurate art of hand planing assures the strongest rod possible.

TAPER DESIGNS

Over the years I have perfected my taper designs to meet the primary objective of excellence in casting performance. I design my tapers to cast modern fly lines. Modern tapers result in reduced overall diameter of the completed rod.

ROD CONSTRUCTION

I flame temper my rods, which colors them from light straw hues to beautifully dark shades of amber. At the request of the individual, I can also oven heat treat the cane in a manner that gives the completed rod a deep blond cast.
